Each year around Australia, children, schools and families celebrate the joy of reading one week more than any other – Book Week. A long-standing tradition of nearly 80 years, Book Week sees children dress up as a character from their favourite book, enjoy story time, and fall further in love with reading.
The Royal Australian Mint has partnered with the Children’s Book Council of Australia for their third year, to produce a coin featuring an adored Australian Children’s Book. Edward the Emu by Sheena Knowles and Rod Celement is celebrated in 2023 – 35 years since it was first published.
